Shelby Mann is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member from the Wapolanne Chapter of Ma-Nu Lodge.  Shelby first joined Boy Scouts as a Tiger Cub and continued throughout Cub Scouts to earn his Arrow of Light Award.  When he crossed over into Troop 77 he became a leader within the troop holding many positions.  He could often be seen providing cheerful service to the members of his patrol and helping out wherever he could.  Shelby was inducted into the Order of the Arrow in the spring of 2010, and sealed his brotherhood in the spring of 2011.  Shelby soon became an avid ceremonialists participating in ceremonies from Crossover/Arrow of Light to Brotherhood.  He also became very active in the Wapolanne Chapter leadership, and was elected Chapter Chief in 2013.  He later went on to be the Chapter Vice Chief of Inductions for two years.  In April of 2013 Shelby achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and went on to earn up to three Eagle Palms.  He has since been awarded the Bronze Buffalo Award and the Eagle District Joe Chase Memorial Award.  In the fall of 2014 Shelby received the Vigil Honor and was given the Indian Name Xinkwitakon Chulens, which is interpreted as “Loud Bird” and most would agree this name fits him very well.  Outside of Boy Scouts Shelby is very active in his High School’s Band and Jazz Band playing the Alto Saxophone in both, where Shelby has served as a leading chair and a section leader.  He is also active in his Youth and Government club serving as a club officer for two years.  In the summer of 2014 Shelby was one of the select few Youth and Government Oklahoma Delegates at the Conference on National Affairs.  He represented the Oklahoma delegation debating all of the current issues facing our nation with more 700 youth from around the country.  Besides those he is also involved in National Honor Society, Oklahoma Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Edmond.  Shelby plans on graduating High School with a 3.9 GPA in May of 2016 and on attending the University of Oklahoma while pursuing a major in Philosophy.
