WELCOME PARENTS

I’m the Parent of a New Member

Welcome to our site! We are pleased that you are would like to know more about Ma-Nu Lodge and the Order of the Arrow.

The first question you may ask is what are these organizations? The Order of the Arrow is the Honor Society of the Boy Scouts of America, and it is a high accomplishment to be inducted; you should be proud of your child. Ma-Nu Lodge is the OA program in Last Frontier Council, or Central and Southern Oklahoma. By becoming a member, or “Arrowmen”, one is rewarded for their accomplishments and character in the scouting program, and then charged with taking the points of the scout oath and law to an even greater level. Thus, membership is a responsibility just as much as it is an honor.

Why be involved? The Order of the Arrow is the behind the scenes driving force of the scouting program. Youth who are active in OA usually find themselves helping out at camporees, staffing events, leading committees, overseeing the program in a district, being allowed to go on special treks at National High Adventure Bases (for only $250, which is usually covered by the lodge), attending the BSA’s top leadership training free of charge, not to mention friends that last a lifetime. Who knows, one day your child could become the National Chief of the Order of the Arrow, the highest youth member in scouting. We encourage you to attend your next chapter meeting and lodge event, and get started on the most exciting leg of your Scouting journey.
